Live Stream FAQ

Why would I stream my event?

In today’s uncertain world many people are finding it difficult or unreliable to make travel plans so families are increasingly choosing to live stream their big days so overseas and interstate family and friends can still share in the celebrations.

Is it one stream or do you start and stop?

This would be wholly dependent on your running sheet for the day, we suggest stopping the stream if there’s a long gap between activities and starting again when the action re-commences however some clients choose to keep the stream open for the entirety of the event.

If you stop and start the stream do we need a new link?

No. Your guests will be given one link to a webpage dedicated to your event. If the stream stops and starts again, their link doesn’t change.

How do remote guests access the stream?

You will be provided with a link to an unlisted page on this website, dedicated to the live stream for your event. Simply share that link with your guests by email, text, WhatsApp, Messenger, etc. There’s no software required, no plugins, no registration. Even your most technically challenged relatives will be able to join.

Can we stream to Facebook Live or a similar platform?

Our technology allows us to stream to any platform of your choice and if this is your preference we can accommodate it, however we strongly advise against it. Some platforms (eg: facebook, Youtube) use automation to police Digital Rights Management (DRM) meaning your stream may be disconnected if they detect a supposed copyright breach from your band playing a cover version of a song. Additionally, our system is set up so that we control the stream from the camera lens to the webpage it’s viewed on making troubleshooting much easier should there be an interruption.

How long can you stream for?

Currently continuous streams are limited to 12hrs without a break.

Why do you use smaller cameras than the professional videographer?

Rather than reverse engineering live streaming abilities for a bulky video production camera, we use purpose built, specialist cameras, designed to get in amongst the action and with built in live streaming capabilities. The Gopro cameras we use deliver high quality video (up to 5k) and being action cameras have clear advantages over traditional video cameras:

There’s no lengthy set up required to move between locations. The compact and light body of the GoPro allows us to move unobtrusively and quickly to the action without missing a frame.

The built in live streaming capabilities reduce “points of failure” and minimises the risk of interruptions to your stream due to technical issues.

The focal length of the camera closely resembles the human eye. Remote guests will view the scene as if they’re joining you in person, not passively watching a video.

The fixed focus lens means there won’t be any periods of accidental blur. The camera is always in focus.

How do we stop guests turning their camera or microphone on during the stream?

Unlike video call platforms (e.g., Zoom or Skype), live streaming is more like watching TV. The unidirectional stream means there’s no need to ask your guests to turn their camera off or mute themselves.
